Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was handed a demerit point by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his plane send-off directed at Haris Rauf during the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan. Jasprit Bumrah (India) accepted a charge under Article 2.21 for conduct that brings the game into disrepute and the proposed sanction of an official warning which resulted in one demerit point. As he accepted the sanction no formal hearing was required the official ICC release stated. Rauf faced heavy backlash for his crashing plane gesture seemingly referencing to the military tensions between the two nations—during the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan. Bumrah gave a crashing plane send off to Haris Rauf In the Asia Cup 2025 final Bumrah dismissed Rauf in the 18th over of Pakistans innings and mimicked the Pakistani pacers gesture giving him a memorable send-off. Meanwhile match referee Andy Pycroft held a hearing regarding a possible code of conduct violation by India pacer Arshdeep Singh during the Super 4 match against Pakistan. He was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing. Following a hearing conducted by ICC Match Referee Andy Pycroft: Arshdeep Singh (India) was found not guilty of an alleged breach of Article 2.6 which pertains to using a gesture that is obscene offensive or insulting and therefore no sanction was imposed. Suryakumar Yadav was also deemed guilty Meanwhile India captain Suryakumar Yadav was deemed guilty of violating Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct which covers actions that bring the game into disrepute. He was fined 30% of his match fee and handed two demerit points. Pakistans Sahibzada Farhan was also found guilty due to the same offence and received an official warning along with one demerit point. Haris Rauf was found guilty and handed a two-match suspension in addition to being fined 30% of his match fees on two separate occasions.
