Tragic accident at Chunar station of Mirzapur, 8 devotees died after being hit by train

Mirzapur. Devotees going to Varanasi to take a bath in the Ganga on Dev Diwali became victims of a tragic accident on Tuesday. Eight female devotees died after being hit by a train while crossing the railway track at Chunar railway station, while many others are seriously injured.

According to the information, all the devotees were going to Varanasi from Chopan area of ​​Sonbhadra. They had reached Chunar station by a passenger train. To catch the second train from there, to go from platform number four to platform number one, they started crossing the railway tracks directly instead of the foot over bridge. Just then, Kalka Express passed by and the devotees got hit by it.

Immediately after the accident, RPF soldiers reached the spot and sent the injured to the nearest hospital. It is being told that all the deceased were women and Dev was going to take a bath in the Ganga in Varanasi on the occasion of Diwali.

According to eyewitnesses, the speed of the train was so high that the dead bodies of the devotees were torn into pieces, causing chaos at the spot. As soon as the information was received, railway and administrative officials including SDM, ASP reached the spot and started relief work. At present, the railway administration has ordered an investigation into the accident.
