Understanding Tulsi's Divine Role

In Sanatan Dharma, the Tulsi plant is revered as a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi. Mahant Swami Kameshwaranand emphasizes that the buds of the Tulsi are likened to the nails of the Goddess. It is considered auspicious to harvest these buds only when they have turned brown, and one should refrain from doing so on Sundays and Tuesdays. Prior to harvesting, it is essential to seek forgiveness from Tulsi Mata.

In many households, the Tulsi plant is worshipped daily, symbolizing the presence of Lakshmi where it is honored regularly.

Mahant Swami Kameshwaranand Vedantacharya elaborates on the importance of both Tulsi leaves and buds, which are regarded as the nails of Tulsi Mata, and there are specific guidelines for their collection.

As the first buds emerge on the Tulsi plant, they should not be harvested immediately. These buds are deemed highly auspicious and should only be picked once they have turned brown.

It is advised to avoid plucking Tulsi on Sundays or Tuesdays, as doing so is believed to bring misfortune and disrupt harmony within the home.

After harvesting the buds, care should be taken to ensure they do not fall to the ground, as this is seen as disrespectful to Tulsi Mata.

Hastily plucking the buds can lead to negative consequences, potentially increasing conflict and issues at home.

Before harvesting, it is recommended to meditate on Tulsi Mata with hands folded, seeking her forgiveness. This practice is believed to yield virtuous outcomes and avoid any sin.
