Victor Osimhen fired a message to Manchester United and Chelsea after bagging a Champions League hat-trick on Wednesday evening. The 26-year-old was in action for Galatasaray, with his team cruising to a 3-0 win at Ajax.
Osimhen has made a name for himself across Europe in recent seasons and bagged 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli before joining Galatasaray on loan in the summer of 2024. He ended his maiden campaign in Turkey with 37 goals in 41 matches and has found the back of the net nine times in 11 outings this season after making the transfer permanent in July.
Osimhen has attracted interest from a string of Premier League clubs in recent years due to his talents in front of goal.
The Nigeria international reportedly rejected interest from Manchester United and Arsenal in the summer after being handed an incredible pay package by Galatasaray.
He was said to have remained in talks with Chelsea over a move to Stamford Bridge before the season got underway but ultimately decided to continue his career in Turkey as a move to the Premier League failed to materialise.
Osimhen notched his first Champions League goal of the season when his side overcame Liverpool in September as he produced the goods on English soil.
He backed that up with a double against Bodo/Glimt last month. And the prolific goalscorer was on top form once against in Amsterdam as Galatasaray ran riot against Ajax.
Osimhen was a menace in front of goal throughout the match and was unlucky not to score two goals in the first half after twice being denied by home keeper Remko Pasveer.
But Galatasaray's main man finally got his reward just before the hour mark as he turned in a cross from former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.
The No. 45 then held his nerve to score two penalties, with his second spot kick flying into the top right corner of the net.
Not only has Osimhen proven himself as a top finisher in recent years, but he has also shown that he can score goals from half chances when he's in difficult positions.
And he clearly thrives on the pressure, having remained cool from 12 yards as his side's main penalty taker.
United and Chelsea may regret not being able to land the player during the most recent summer transfer window. But the two clubs could well be licking their lips at the prospect of signing him next year if they get the opportunity to.
He would need a substantial contract offer to leave Turkey, but it could prove to be money well spent if he can continue his rich vein of form in the Premier League.
