Introduction to Ghoomar Festival 2025
The Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari, has initiated the organization of the 'Ghoomar Festival 2025' by the tourism department. Scheduled for November 19, this festival aims to establish Ghoomar dance as a globally recognized art form. It will not only showcase a dance but also symbolize the rich culture, traditions, and empowerment of women in Rajasthan.
According to Rukmani Riyad, the Commissioner of the tourism department, the state government is actively supporting this initiative. The festival will take place simultaneously across all seven divisional headquarters of the state—Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Kota, and Bharatpur. The preparations for the event have been outlined in the guidelines issued by the department.
Participants will be divided into two categories: a general group where women can participate individually or in groups, and a competitive category exclusively for groups. Each group must consist of 20 to 25 participants. To prepare for the festival, seven-day workshops will be held from November 9 to 17, focusing on training participants in the nuances of Ghoomar dance. Women and girls aged 12 and above, including students from schools and colleges, dance academy members, homemakers, working women, NGOs, self-help groups, registered clubs, and community organizations, are encouraged to join.
Online registration for the festival is free and mandatory. Participants can register through the official Rajasthan tourism website and its social media platforms. Additionally, a help desk has been established at the divisional tourism offices to assist participants with registration and inquiries.
The Ghoomar Festival is set to take place on November 19 across the seven divisional headquarters. Prior to the festival, workshops will be conducted to teach local artists and women the intricacies of Ghoomar dance. This event is expected to not only preserve cultural heritage but also play a significant role in promoting tourism in the region.
