Vande Bharat Express
The comfort and speed of the Vande Bharat Express are set to arrive on another busy rail corridor in Uttar Pradesh.

The Ministry of Railways has announced a new Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train that promises to connect the state capital with western UP’s industrial and education hubs in under eight hours — the fastest on the route yet.

A new chapter in UP’s Vande Bharat network

Designated as train numbers 26504/26503, the Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express will cover the 518-kilometre journey in 7 hours and 45 minutes, shaving off precious time from the journey that currently takes over eight hours by conventional express trains.

The new service will operate six days a week, excluding Mondays, and is designed to provide air-conditioned, modern comfort to passengers.

The train will have eight coaches in total — seven AC chair cars and one executive chair car — in line with the signature configuration of other short-distance Vande Bharat trains.

Route and stoppages

The train will pass through some of the most important rail junctions of central and western Uttar Pradesh. On its journey from Lucknow Junction to Saharanpur, the Vande Bharat will halt at six key stations:

  • Sitapur
  • Shahjahanpur
  • Bareilly
  • Moradabad
  • Najibabad
  • Roorkee
These stops are expected to provide faster intercity access for passengers from major business and educational centres along the way.

Departure and arrival schedule

According to the proposed timetable, train number 26504 will depart from Lucknow Junction at 5:00 am and reach Saharanpur at 12:45 pm, allowing passengers to make the most of the day upon arrival.

In the return direction, train number 26503 will leave Saharanpur at 3:00 pm and arrive back in Lucknow at 11:00 pm, offering a convenient evening travel option for business and leisure travellers alike.

With its aerodynamic design, onboard catering, automatic doors, and GPS-based passenger information system, the Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express is expected to set a new benchmark for intercity connectivity in Uttar Pradesh.

The train will not only reduce travel time but also provide an experience of comfort and punctuality that older trains on the route have long struggled to match.

Ticket bookings to open soon

The Indian Railways will soon open ticket bookings for the new service, both online via the IRCTC website and app, and offline at railway reservation counters across the network. Passengers booking online will need a valid IRCTC user ID to reserve their seats.

With the Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express joining the expanding fleet of semi-high-speed trains, travellers can look forward to a smoother, faster, and more premium journey across Uttar Pradesh — from the political heart of Lucknow to the bustling gateway of Saharanpur.
