The revelation that a burqa-clad woman’s body was found near the Ganga Canal track in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on September 17 has shocked the entire region. Police investigation revealed that the murder was committed by none other than the woman’s husband Shahzad along with his partner Nadeem Ansari. Shahzad is working as an Imam in a mosque in Charthawal area of Muzaffarnagar.
According to the information, Shahzad had met the deceased woman Naima on social media. Posing himself as a cloth businessman, he established a love affair with Naima and also married her. Naima was not aware that Shahzad was already married and had three children. When Naima came to know this truth after marriage, disputes between the two started increasing. Naima also started preventing Shahzad from going to his first wife’s house.
According to the police, it was due to this conflict that Shahzad decided to throw his new wife away. He convinced his associate Nadeem to help him in the murder by giving him ₹12,000.
On September 16, both of them planned to take Naima to Meerut. Both of them brought him on the pretext of shopping and on the way, they mixed sleeping pills in the juice and made him unconscious. He was then taken to a field near Siwal Khas, where first Nadeem strangled him with a rope and then Shahzad slit his throat with a knife. After the murder, Shahzad also filed a missing report of Naima in Muzaffarnagar to mislead the police.
But his statements kept getting complicated during police interrogation. As his suspicion deepened, when he was interrogated rigorously, he confessed to the entire conspiracy. Police have also recovered the knife and rope used in the murder. Meerut SSP Vipin Tada has announced a reward of ₹25,000 for the team that uncovers this heinous murder. Both the accused have been arrested and further legal action is underway.
This case not only brings out a harrowing tale of deception and betrayal, but also shows how deceit and crime in relationships are on the rise through social media.
