Dharamshala:

In a significant move to promote tourism in the Kangra Valley, the 14th Dalai Lama inaugurated the official tourism website VisitDharamshala.com at his residence in McLeodganj on Friday. This initiative, spearheaded by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Dharamshala, seeks to highlight the town as a fusion of spirituality, sustainability, and the warmth of the Himalayas.

Among those present at the launch were Ashwani Bamba, the association's president, Onkar Nehria, its chairman, District Tourism Officer Vinay Dhiman, executive committee members, local entrepreneurs, adventure operators, Waste Warriors representatives, and notable community members.

The Dalai Lama expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of promoting Dharamshala as a sanctuary of peace, compassion, and coexistence. He remarked, “Such initiatives can inspire travelers to appreciate not only the beauty of the Himalayas but also the deeper human and cultural values of this region.”

A Comprehensive Resource for Travelers

The newly launched VisitDharamshala.com acts as a one-stop travel resource, providing visitors with insights into local attractions, adventure activities, festivals, culinary offerings, accommodations, and cultural heritage. The site also features real-time weather updates and information on current events, ensuring a safe and convenient experience for tourists.

“This platform embodies our shared vision to present Dharamshala to the world — not merely as a tourist spot, but as a soulful journey that intertwines spirituality, sustainability, and the warmth of the Himalayas,” stated Ashwani Bamba, the association's president.

Commitment to Quality and Community Empowerment

To ensure transparency and quality, only verified hotels, guesthouses, and service providers will be featured on the website. The Association also aims to promote local art, Himachali cuisine, traditional crafts, and eco-friendly tourism practices, thereby creating new job opportunities for local residents.

To expand Dharamshala's visibility, the Association plans to actively promote the portal across various digital and social media platforms. A group of travel influencers from across India is set to visit later this month to experience and share the unique offerings of Dharamshala through VisitDharamshala.com.
