Japan continues to be voted world’s most favorite destination by readers of U.S. magazine Condé Nast Traveler at this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards with 95.36 points out of 100.
The Asian country also held the title last year.
Travelers cited natural beauty, vibrant culture, delicious food and hospitality as reasons for Japan’s popularity.
Greece ranks second, followed by Portugal and Italy.
The rest of top 10 are Spain, Turkey, Ireland, Croatia, France and Canada.
Japan welcomed 31.65 million foreign visitors between January and September, up 17.7% year-on-year, thanks to its weak yen, increased flight connections and relaxed visa policies.
The figure marked Japan’s fastest pace in surpassing 30 million foreign arrivals, Kyodo News reported.
If this momentum continues, Japan’s annual inbound visitors in 2025 are expected to surpass 40 million.
More than 757,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers participated in the survey, sharing their opinions on various travel experiences, including cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.
The Readers’ Choice Awards, the longest-running accolade in the travel industry, celebrate excellence in hotels, resorts, and destinations around the world.
