New Delhi: In a major development Reliance Jio has joined hands with BSNL to create a plan that could surprise Airtel and Vodafone. The Mukesh Ambani-led company has launched two new intra-circle roaming (ICR) recharge plans for its customers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is important to note that these plans have been developed in collaboration with the government-owned company BSNL. The aim is to provide Jio users with network access in areas where Jios coverage is weak. In rural or remote regions Jio users will be able to connect to BSNLs network. Jio stated that the BSNL service will be available on select prepaid recharges. With this customers can use voice data and SMS services on the BSNL network within the same region. Here are some of the key details: The Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) recharge plans are priced at Rs 196 and Rs 396 according to a report by Telecom Talk Both the plans will offer a validity of 28 days. The ₹196 plan includes 2 GB of data 1000 minutes of voice calls and 1000 SMS. The ₹396 plan which is the larger one provides 10 GB of data while voice calls and SMS remain the same — 1000 minutes and 1000 messages respectively. Jio has clarified that these plans will work only on BSNL’s ICR network. These plans are part of Jio’s strategy to strengthen coverage in rural and semi-urban regions by using BSNL’s network. To recall on November 2 2025 the Department of Telecommunications shared a post on X (Twitter) about an inspection of a 4G site in Umed village Rajasthan. The ICR test between BSNL and Jio was successful there. This collaboration for network sharing is expected to enhance connectivity in remote areas. Bharti Airtel Installs 4G Towers Bharti Airtel has installed 4G towers using government funding under the Digital India Fund which was earlier known as the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF). According to the company these towers have been set up in rural areas of states like Arunachal Pradesh Meghalaya Rajasthan Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. The project has been carried out in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
