New Delhi . Dinesh Karthik-led Team India was embarrassed in the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament when they lost against smaller teams like Kuwait and UAE. India is out of the tournament after losing by 27 runs to Kuwait in Pool C, now they have to face defeat against UAE in the bowl match. Let us tell you, a total of 12 teams are participating in the Hong Kong Sixes. After the first round, 8 teams entered the quarter finals. Bowl matches are being played between India, Sri Lanka, UAE and Nepal, which were eliminated in the first round.
Dinesh Karthik’s team suffered a humiliating 27-run defeat to Kuwait in the Hong Kong Sixes on Saturday morning, 8 November. After this defeat, India is out of the tournament. India had defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 2 runs (DLS) in their first match of the group stage, but after the defeat to Kuwait, India’s net run rate dropped so drastically that it was eliminated from the tournament. Whereas the teams of Pakistan and Kuwait have made their place in the quarter finals.
Talking about the match against Kuwait, they had set a target of 107 runs for India to win in the stipulated 6 overs. Kuwait captain Yasin Patel played a brilliant inning of 58 runs in 14 balls, during which he hit 2 fours and 8 sixes. Despite having strong batsmen like Robin Uthappa, Priyank Panchal, Dinesh Karthik and Stuart Binny, India could only score 79 runs and the surprising thing was that Team India could not even last 6 overs. All the batsmen were out with 2 balls remaining.
Whereas in front of UAE, India had set a target of 108 runs on the basis of Abhimanyu Mithun’s blazing half-century, Karthik had scored 42 runs in 14 balls. But despite this India had to face defeat. UAE chased this score with 1 ball remaining and made India taste defeat.
