The next evolution in wearable technology is about to arrive in India. Ray-Ban and Meta have officially announced the launch of their Gen 1 Smart Glasses, which will go on sale across major e-commerce platforms — Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital — starting November 21, 2025, at a price of ₹29,900.

Previously available only on Ray-Ban’s official website and select offline stores, the new retail expansion marks Meta’s growing focus on localizing technology for Indian users. The company has introduced region-specific features such as Hindi voice command support, Deepika Padukone’s voice assistant, and even UPI Lite payment integration, making the device smarter and more relatable to the Indian audience.

Smart Features Tailored for India

Meta’s latest wearable isn’t just another tech gadget—it’s designed specifically with Indian users in mind. The inclusion of Hindi voice support means users can now operate the glasses simply by speaking commands in their native language.

Adding a touch of Bollywood glamour, users will also be able to hear responses from the virtual assistant in the voice of actor Deepika Padukone. This personalization aims to make digital interaction feel more natural and engaging.

Meta is also testing UPI Lite integration in the device. This feature will enable users to make instant payments of up to ₹1,000 just by saying, “Hey Meta, scan and pay.” If successful, this will mark a major leap in integrating voice-based transactions into wearable tech.

Camera and Audio: The Core Highlights

At its heart, the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are built to enhance content creation and communication. The device features a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, capable of capturing high-resolution photos and recording videos seamlessly.

For audio, the glasses include open-ear speakers and a setup of five microphones, enabling crystal-clear calls, immersive music playback, and accurate voice command recognition.

Powering the smart glasses is the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, ensuring smooth performance and real-time response. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, making it easier to pair with smartphones and other smart devices.

Design and Battery: Style Meets Functionality

Ray-Ban’s timeless design language remains intact. The smart glasses resemble classic Ray-Ban eyewear, allowing users to wear them comfortably in everyday situations without drawing unwanted attention.

They are available in Wayfarer, Headliner, and Round frame styles, offering multiple lens options — prescription, sun, polarized, and transition lenses.

In terms of performance, the glasses offer up to four hours of continuous usage, and the accompanying charging case allows multiple top-ups throughout the day.

A Step Toward Everyday Smart Wearables

Unlike some advanced AR glasses, Ray-Ban and Meta’s first-generation model does not feature a digital display. Instead, it focuses on enhancing hands-free photo capture, video recording, and voice control—making it a perfect entry point for first-time smart wearable users.

Users can take photos, record short clips, play music, or respond to calls—all without reaching for their phones.

Expanding India’s Smart Device Market

By pricing the product competitively at ₹29,900, Meta aims to position the Ray-Ban Smart Glasses alongside other popular consumer gadgets like smartwatches, earbuds, and fitness trackers. The addition of localized features is expected to drive strong adoption in India’s rapidly growing wearable market.

As Meta continues to experiment with voice AI, payments, and localized user experiences, this launch could redefine how Indian consumers interact with technology — blending fashion, functionality, and digital convenience in a single device.
