Suryakumar Yadav’s commentary on the Asia Cup trophy: A five-match T20 series was played between India and Australia. India won the series 2-1. After winning the series, T20 captain of Indian cricket team Suryakumar Yadav has targeted Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi over the issue of Asia Cup trophy. The matter is now on the verge of judgment. Suryakumar interacted with the media after the 2-1 T20I series win against Australia. He spoke directly to an indirect question about the trophy controversy.
Suryakumar Yadav was present at the press conference after the series win and the media briefing started with the trophy. A reporter asked Suryakumar Yadav when he finally got the T20 trophy and got a chance to touch it. The Indian captain replied, “It feels great to touch the trophy. When I was given the trophy for the series win, I felt it in my hand.”
Suryakumar Yadav, recalling the ODI World Cup trophy won by the Indian women’s team a few days ago, said, “A few days ago, another trophy came to India. Our women’s team won the World Cup. That trophy has also returned home. Feels great and feels good even after touching this trophy.”
The tussle between BCCI, PCB and ACC chief Naqvi seems to be abating now. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia revealed that during informal discussions at the ICC meeting, both sides have decided to resolve the issue amicably and work towards a solution as soon as possible.
“I was part of informal and formal ICC meetings. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present there,” Saikia informed PTI. Saikia further said that while it was not on the agenda during the formal meeting, a separate meeting was organized by the ICC between him and the PCB chief in the presence of a senior ICC official and another senior official.
