There is great relief news for the students of Rajasthan. Now Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, Ajmer will conduct board exams twice a year. Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar has formally announced this. This new system will be implemented from the next academic session and its purpose is to reduce the examination pressure on students and give them an opportunity to improve. But the teachers union and the opposition have raised questions on this decision of the government.

Education Minister Madan Dilawar said that this decision has been taken under the National Education Policy. According to the new policy, it is important to give more opportunities and flexibility to the students, so that they can better demonstrate their abilities. Now every student will get a chance to appear for board exams twice in an academic session. We want that children should not be burdened with studies for the whole year. There will be two examinations – first Main Examination and second ‘Second Chance Examination’. This will give children another chance to correct their mistakes and score good marks.

It will be mandatory for all students to participate

Dilawar said that the first examination will be held in February-March and after the results are declared, the second examination, which will be called ‘Second Opportunity Examination’, will be conducted in May-June. Both the exams will be based on the complete syllabus and there will be no change in the study plan. The minister clarified that it will be mandatory for all students to appear in the first board examination. Students who qualify this examination will get a chance to improve their marks in maximum three subjects. At the same time, the students who will be declared supplementary will also be able to appear in the second examination in maximum three subjects, including supplementary subjects.

will be added to the final result

Dilawar also said that students who miss the first examination due to any valid reason will also be given the opportunity to appear for the second examination, but for this they will have to produce a medical certificate or a certificate issued by the District Education Officer. The Education Minister clarified that in this new system the fees will remain the same as for the main examination and there will be no additional financial burden on the students. Also, the board will implement the ‘Best of Two’ principle – that is, whichever exam has more marks among the two exams will be added to the final result. This will reduce the pressure on students to score high marks in the first examination.
