Popular South Indian cinema actress Anupama Parameswaran recently lodged a complaint with the Kerala Cyber Crime Police after she came to know that fake accounts had been created in her name to spread falsehoods about her, her family and her close friends. Anupama, who was seen in the film ‘Tillu Square’, revealed that her teased pictures are also being posted through these profiles. Investigation revealed that a 20-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu was behind this fake account.
Anupama posted a long note on her Instagram, in which she revealed that a 20-year-old girl had started spreading falsehoods and indecent pictures against her by creating multiple fake accounts. These posts were targeting not only Anupama, but also her family, friends and co-actors. “An Instagram account was spreading extremely inappropriate and false statements about me and my family. These posts included morphed photos and baseless allegations. It was very disturbing to see that someone could be capable of spreading this kind of hatred,” he wrote.
Anupama said that investigation revealed that the same person was making wrong comments on her every post from many fake accounts. Anupama did not reveal the identity of the girl because she is still very young. But he definitely said that he has taken this step not only for himself, but for all those who face online trolling and cyber harassment. Anupama further wrote, “Having a mobile phone or a social media account does not mean that you get the right to defame or harass someone. Every online activity has a digital trail, and sooner or later accountability is fixed.”
“Being a public figure does not take away our fundamental rights. Cyber bullying is a punishable offense and must be held accountable,” she concluded her note.
Talking about films, Anupama was seen in many interesting projects in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema this year, in which her acting in films like Bison, Dragon, Pardha, Kishkindhapuri and The Pet Detective was highly appreciated. Soon she will be seen in her new Tamil film Lockdown.
