
New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell achieved a major career milestone on Sunday, completing 6,000 runs in international cricket during the third T20I against the West Indies. Mitchell reached the landmark while scoring 41 runs off 24 balls, including two fours and three sixes.
With this achievement, Mitchell became the 15th New Zealand cricketer to surpass the 6,000-run mark across formats.
Mitchell, who represents New Zealand in all three formats, has so far accumulated 6,032 runs in 183 innings of 176 matches at an impressive average of 39.42, including 11 centuries and 34 fifties. His highest score in international cricket is 190 runs.
In T20 Internationals, Mitchell has scored 1,674 runs in 88 matches at an average of 27.00 and a strike rate of 138.80, with eight half-centuries to his name. In One-Day Internationals, he has scored 2,219 runs in 55 matches at a remarkable average of 51.60, which includes six centuries and eleven fifties, with a top score of 134.
In Test cricket, the right-hander has amassed 2,139 runs in 33 matches (53 innings) at an average of 44.56, including five centuries and fifteen fifties, with a best score of 190.
Mitchell currently stands 15th on New Zealand’s all-time list of leading run-scorers in international cricket. At the top of the list is Kane Williamson, who has scored 19,107 runs in 373 matches (443 innings), including 48 centuries and 102 half-centuries — establishing himself as one of the greatest batters in New Zealand’s history and among the finest in world cricket.
