Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently introduced the new ‘Aadhaar App’, in which both security and user experience have been improved. This app not only brings Aadhaar services to your mobile, but also gives citizens complete access to digital identity.
The government claims that this new app is faster, secure and user-friendly than the old mAadhaar app.
1. Completely new interface and faster performance
The biggest change of the new app is its interface. Now users get a simple, clean and navigation-friendly layout. According to UIDAI, the app has been designed with lightweight coding, making it 30% faster than the older version.
The login process is also now extremely easy – users can access the app with their Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID).
2. Digital Aadhar Card always with you
No need for physical card now. In the new app you can download your digital Aadhaar card, which can also be viewed offline.
This digital card includes a QR code, photo and security details, making identity verification easy anywhere.
3. Security features become stronger
To keep user information safe, UIDAI has added biometric lock/unlock system, face authentication, and one-time passcode (OTP) verification.
Now no one can access your Aadhaar data without your permission. Additionally, the app also offers real-time security alerts, which notify you of any suspicious activity.
4. Easy updates and QR code scanning feature
Users can now apply for minor changes in their mobile number, email or address through the app itself.
Additionally, the QR code scanner feature lets you easily verify someone’s Aadhaar card — a feature extremely useful for banks, government offices, and private institutions.
5. Multilingual Support and Offline Verification
This time UIDAI has added support for 12 Indian languages in the app. This means that now the app can be used in many languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu.
Additionally, an offline KYC verification feature has also been added, allowing one’s identity to be confirmed even when there is no internet.
Easiest way to setup
Download ‘Aadhaar App by UIDAI’ from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Open the app and enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID).
Login with OTP received on registered mobile number.
Now you can view, download or share your digital Aadhaar.
For security, activate biometric lock in the app.
Message from UIDAI
UIDAI says the new app provides citizens with “a secure, portable and trusted digital identity”.
Experts believe that this app can prove to be the cornerstone for Aadhaar based e-services in future.
