New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the India A and India B Under-19 teams that will participate in the upcoming triangular series with Afghanistan U19. The series will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from November 17.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Excluded from the List
The most surprising decision in this selection was the exclusion of 14-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi from both teams. This young player who came into the spotlight with his excellent performance in the IPL 2025 was not selected for the triangular series.
BCCI Explains the Reason
The BCCI clarified Vaibhavs absence stating“Vaibhav Suryavanshi was not considered for selection because he has been included in the India A squad for the ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup.”Thus the board made it clear that the reason for Vaibhavs exclusion was strategic not performance-related.
Another Young Player Excluded
The BCCI also stated that emerging batsman Ayush Mhatre has not been selected for the triangular series. The reason is that he is currently part of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team.
Triangular Series Schedule
The series will begin on November 17 with a match between India U19 A and India U19 B. The final will be played on November 30 and all matches will be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Bengaluru.
