Delhi Red Fort Blast:The horrific car blast incident that took place in the Red Fort area of Delhi has shaken the entire country. 12 people lost their lives in this blast and now the investigating agencies are fast reaching the bottom of the case. On Thursday, a big revelation was made that about eight suspects were preparing a huge terrorist attack.

Their conspiracy was to carry out blasts in four different cities at the same time, in which each team of two accused was given the responsibility of one city each.

Pairs of suspects and preparation of IED

Initial investigation revealed that the accused were moving in pairs and were carrying several homemade explosive devices (IEDs). The plan was that all the IEDs would explode simultaneously. The names under suspicion include people associated with old terror cases – like Dr. Muzammil, Dr. Adil, Dr. Omar and Shaheen Shahid.

Police foiled a big conspiracy, fund of Rs 20 lakh

Police sources are saying that Delhi Police stopped a terrible terrorist plan, whose target was to carry out continuous blasts in many cities of the country. Investigation revealed that the accused had collected approximately Rs 20 lakh. This money was given to Umar for ‘operational expenses’. With this amount, NPK fertilizer was purchased, which contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Plan to make IED from 20 quintals of manure

By spending about Rs 3 lakh, 20 quintals of fertilizer was purchased from Gurugram, Nuh and surrounding areas. It was going to be used in making IED. The investigators also found out that Umar had created a secret group of two to four members on the ‘Signal’ app, so that all the activities could be conducted safely.

Dr. Muzammil’s ISIS connection

According to the agencies, Dr. Muzammil was influenced by Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind between 2021 and 2022. This group is the local branch of ISIS. Muzammil met this network through ‘Irfan alias Maulvi’. The investigation also revealed that the weapons recovered in 2023 and 2024 were collected by this module. These people were trying to form a new independent terrorist organization.

Conspiracy to prepare separate vehicles

The agencies are now also investigating whether different vehicles were being prepared for the blasts. After the i20 and EcoSport case, it was revealed that the suspects were planning to prepare two more old vehicles. A large scale attack was to be carried out by placing explosives in them.

Dr. Omar was about to blast the car

Meanwhile, Delhi Police confirmed that the person who carried out the car blast was Dr. Omar Un Nabi. His identity was confirmed in forensic DNA test after it matched his mother’s DNA. Speaking to ANI, a senior police officer said that DNA profiling identified the deceased as Dr. Umar Un Nabi. The relationship was confirmed by matching the mother’s sample.

According to officers, after the blast, Umar’s leg was found stuck between the steering and accelerator of the car. It is clear that he was driving the car at the time of the blast.

The investigation achieved great success

Sources say that the identification of Omar has brought tremendous success to the investigation. Now the police is linking the call records, CCTV footage and things found from the vehicle to this chain. The Special Cell of Delhi Police and central agencies are together solving the entire network. At present the focus is on where the explosives came from, who were the handlers and whether it was part of some bigger conspiracy.
