Have you ever noticed the fine print on your phone charger, such as Gan, PD, QC, or Vooc? If not, these terms are related to the phone's charging technology, and if you're even slightly concerned about your phone's battery, you should know about these technologies in detail. Different smartphone companies use different standard charging technologies. If you're unsure about the differences between them and which charging technology is best for your phone, let's clear up your confusion and learn about each in detail.

What is QC Charging?
QC Charging, or Quick Charging, was introduced by Qualcomm in 2013. As the name suggests, its purpose was to charge phones faster. This technology was specifically introduced for smartphones that supported Snapdragon processors. From its first version, QC 1.0, to QC 5.0, its speed increased over time, from 10W to 100W+. This technology's specialty was its ability to intelligently manage voltage and current, allowing phones to charge quickly without overheating. Brands like Xiaomi, Motorola, Poco, Nokia, and Realme support this charging technology.

What is AFC charging?
AFC, or Adaptive Fast Charging, was introduced by Samsung in 2014. Samsung launched it for its own smartphones. This means that you'll see AFC charging technology used in Samsung smartphones. This fast charging technology was based on Qualcomm's QC technology, but it was specifically developed for Galaxy devices. The specialty of this technology is that it automatically adjusts voltage to maintain battery health. Today, it supports charging speeds of 25 to 45W. If you use a Samsung phone, you should use a charger that supports AFC technology.

What is VOOC charging?
Vooc charging technology was launched by Oppo in 2014. The specialty of this charging technology is that it operates at low voltage and high current. This increases charging speed without causing excessive heating of the phone. Over time, advanced versions of this technology were introduced under names like SuperVOOC, Warp (OnePlus), and Dart (Realme). Today, chargers supporting this technology provide charging power of over 150W. If you use phones from OPPO, Realme, OnePlus, Vivo, or iQOO, you should use a charger that supports this technology with your phone.

What is PD charging?
PD charging, or Power Delivery charging, was introduced in 2017 and is an international or common charging standard. This technology was developed by USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) with the idea that all devices could be charged following a common charging standard. Today, chargers supporting this technology are called PD chargers and can support up to 240W of power. It can charge phones, laptops, tablets, and cameras. It is supported by brands like Apple, Google, Samsung, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Dell, and HP.

What is HyperCharge technology?
Xiaomi smartphones support fast charging up to 120W using HyperCharge technology. It fully charges the phone in 10-15 minutes. This charging technology is equipped with heat management and a multi-cell battery protection system. It is used in Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones.
