Nowadays people walk a lot to stay fit. Some people walk in the morning, some in the evening. Also, many people believe that it is better to be active little by little throughout the day. This leaves people confused: Is morning walking more effective? Or is it more beneficial to stay active by taking small steps throughout the day?

If you are also struggling with the same dilemma, then this article is for you. Recently, a neurologist (doctor specializing in the nervous system) of Apollo has given a detailed answer to this question on social media. He told what effect these two types of walks have on the body.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar of Hyderabad-based Apollo Hospitals posted on Instagram that many people sit for the rest of the day after walking for an hour. At the same time, some people walk slowly throughout the day. He explains how both types of walking can affect your health and what is the best time to go walking.

What did the expert say?

According to Dr. Sudhir Kumar, neurologist at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, many people walk for an hour in the morning, but spend the rest of the day sitting. They do not get the expected benefits from this habit. Instead, slow walking or light activities throughout the day are more beneficial for health.

According to Dr. Kumar, walking just three minutes every hour can improve blood sugar and cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and keep your metabolism active throughout the day. They also reported that walking 5-10 minutes after every meal and standing or walking for a while every hour increases concentration, energy and stamina, and also improves metabolic health.

Benefits of walking after meals

According to Healthline, taking a short walk after meals is also very beneficial. This improves digestion, improves heart health, improves overall health and helps maintain weight.
