Mumbai: Indian women’s cricket team has entered the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup by defeating defending champion Australia. India created history by defeating defending champion Australia by 5 wickets on Thursday (30 October) in the second semi-final of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. With this victory, India has reached the final of the World Cup. Now on November 2, the Indian team will face South Africa in the final.

Australia, batting first after winning the toss, scored a huge score of 338 runs in 49.5 overs. Australia may not have had a good start, but with the help of Phoebe Litchfield’s 119 runs, Alice Perina’s 77 runs and Ashley Gardner’s 63 runs, the team was able to reach a big score. Indian fielding was very weak in this match. In reply, India chased down the mountain-like target of 339 runs by scoring 341 runs for 5 wickets with 9 balls remaining.

The start of the Indian team was also not good, in which Shefali Verma was out in the powerplay after scoring 10 runs and Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring 24 runs. But, from here Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues created history. Both of them registered a century partnership of 167 runs in 156 balls for the third wicket, which brought India back into the match. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a brilliant inning of 89 runs in 88 balls. When the captain was out, Jemimah took the responsibility. He remained unbeaten by scoring 127 runs in just 134 balls and led the team to victory. He also got support from Deepti Sharma (24 runs in 17 balls) and Amanjot Kaur (15 runs). Garth and Sutherland took 2-2 wickets for Australia, but it was not enough for victory. With this victory, India has achieved a new milestone in women’s cricket.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 338 runs in 49.5 overs. This is the highest score in the Women’s World Cup semi-finals. Australia broke the record set in the first semi-final played between South Africa and England in Guwahati on Wednesday. This is the second highest score in a Women’s World Cup knockout match. The highest score in the Women’s World Cup knockout match was made in the final played between Australia and England in 2022. At that time Australia had scored 356 runs for five wickets. This is Australia’s highest score in the first innings against India in the World Cup. Then the Indian women’s team made the biggest chase in the knock out.

World champion Australia had not lost in the entire tournament but now it has been thrown out. After winning 25 consecutive ODIs, the Australian women’s team has lost against the Indian team. This time a new country will become world champion. On the other hand, men have made the biggest chase in women’s cricket knock out.
