Phu Quoc, voted the most beautiful in Asia by readers of American magazine Condé Nast Traveler, welcomed nearly 7.1 million tourists in the first 10 months of this year, up 34.2% year-on-year.
The island also received 1.35 million foreign arrivals between January and October, up 68.4% year-on-year and surpassing this year’s target, according to An Giang Province’s Department of Tourism.
Last year, Phu Quoc received 960,000 foreign tourists and has aimed to receive 1 million this year.
Every day, the island welcomes nearly 60 flights, bringing domestic and international visitors from key markets such as South Korea, China and member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Dan Tri newspaper reported.
Phu Quoc has become a bright spot of Vietnam’s tourism this year, attracting a series of Asian celebrities this year, including actress and model Jumbo Tsang and singer-actress Gillian Chung.
October to May is the peak travel season on the island with sunny weather and clear blue sea.
