Bhavnagar: Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labor & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, by participating in the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative from his native village Hanol in Palitana, Gujarat, made a clear call to all the citizens to adopt an active lifestyle. Launched by the Minister in December 2024, the cycle initiative has so far been conducted at over 46,000 locations with the participation of over 8 lakh individuals. Continuing with its mission to create a healthy, pollution-free India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with the National Cadet Corps today organized a special edition of ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ across 5000 locations across the country. About 3000 Namo Fit India clubs also participated in this program.

Dr. Mandaviya had requested the fellow citizens of Gamada to download the FIT India mobile application and use the carbon credit facility. “I would urge everyone to download the FIT India mobile app and check how much carbon is being saved by cycling to work or a walk in the village. The app is developed in a way that gives you all the information about your health, from distance and time to heart rate and other parameters that are beneficial for health tracking. Cycling is a great tool to fight obesity and is the solution to pollution. I would ask everyone to be a part of our Fit India Sundays on Cycle movement,” Dr. Mandaviya had said in Hanol.

In Delhi, over 1200 enthusiastic cyclists rode around the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and participated in Zumba, meditation and yoga sessions, along with Dr. Enjoyed the rope jumping activity organized by Shikha Gupta. Additionally, fencers Nazia Shaik and Benny Quebha pledged to support the cycling movement, highlighting its role in spreading much-needed awareness about the ill effects of obesity and air pollution in Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 cities.

“This is my first experience of cycling with such a big crowd. I am very happy to be a part of it. Fit India Sundays on Cycle is a great initiative to make people aware about lifestyle diseases like obesity and air pollution. It was great to see people enjoying various physical activities from Zumba, yoga, rope skipping to badminton, net cricket etc. in one place. The morning started with high energy and the message was clear to everyone that we have to be active to stay fit and healthy. We have to adopt a lifestyle,” said National Games medal winner in fencing, Benny Kwebha.

Meanwhile, more than 100 riders of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) actively participated in the Fit India Sunday on Cycle at Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW). This program was organized in collaboration with the ongoing cycle training camp at PLW of Indian Railways. This successful program not only promoted physical fitness but also reflected the RSPB’s unwavering commitment to promoting healthy and active lifestyles among its players and staff.
