New Delhi: In a major development the Mizoram government has given a big relief to its government employees amid the discussion on the 8th pay commission. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma the government decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 percent from 1 November 2025. Now employees will receive 44 percent DA instead of the existing 40 percent of their basic salary.
Additional 2 percent hike approved
The Lalduhoma cabinet has also approved another DA hike of 2 percent which will take effect from 1 April 2026 raising the DA to 46 percent. This means that from next April employees will get another wave of financial relief.
However a senior official said This is certainly good news for us but we are still far behind central government employees. At the Centre employees receive nearly 53% DA on their basic pay.
4 percent hike was given last year as well
To recall the Mizoram government in October 2024 had increased the DA from 36 percent to 40 percent. Apart from this the cabinet has also approved granting Special Incentive Allowance to police personnel on deputation in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and to staff below the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector.
The Mizoram government has announced this DA hike at a time when the 8th Pay Commission has already been set up in the country and the notification was also issued on 3 November.
