India’s first bullet train inaugural run to cover 100 km between Surat and Vapi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shares big update

Indias inaugural bullet train will now travel 100 kilometers between Surat and Vapi during its inaugural in August 2027 Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed on Tuesday as reported by news agency PTI. Earlier Vaishnaw had indicated that the train would run 50 kilometers between Surat and Bilimora at the time of inauguration. Who announced the update on India’s first bullet train inaugural run? The countrys first 508-km high-speed rail corridor is in progress between Sabarmati(Ahmedabad) and Mumbai. The bullet train on this 508-km high-speed rail corridor will travel at a speed of 320 km/h cutting the travel time to 2 hours and 17 minutes between the two cities. The foundation stone was laid in 2017. Meanwhile the entire project was initially meant to be completed by December 2023. However land acquisition and other difficulties caused a delay in the ambitious project. When is the inaugural run of India’s first bullet train scheduled? While speaking to the reporters at the Rail Bhawan here Vaishnaw said The bullet train in its inaugural run will now cover 100 km between Surat and Vapi in August 2027. Earlier the inaugural run was planned on a 50 km stretch between Surat and Billimora within the same deadline” as reported by news agency PTI. “The bullet train will cover the distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in 1 hour 58 minutes while stopping at four stations. However if it stops at all 12 stations the entire distance will be covered in 2 hours and 17 minutes” he stated as reported by news agency PTI. When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the anticipated Surat station Vaishnaw said the Prime Minister was very happy with the pace of work being done. “PM Modi said that whatever we have learnt from the project must be used elsewhere not only in Railways and other high speed projects but in other different sectors as well. We have done one innovation after the other in this project” Vaishnaw was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. “It is a complex project and the biggest challenge was its design” He stated emphasising that the entire project will be operational by the end of 2029.
