The good news is that the entire process is now fully digital, allowing ration card holders to complete e-KYC from home using their mobile phone.

Why Ration Card e-KYC Has Become MandatoryThrough NFSA, the government provides subsidised or free food grains to millions of beneficiaries. To ensure that only eligible families receive these benefits and prevent duplication or misuse, the government regularly updates verification guidelines.

Follow the steps below to complete your e-KYC:
Step 1: Install both appsDownload and install Mera Ration and Aadhaar Face RD apps on your smartphone.
Step 2: Open Mera Ration AppLaunch the app and allow it to access your location. Enter your location details as prompted.
Step 3: Enter Aadhaar NumberType in your Aadhaar number and fill in the displayed captcha. Complete the verification through the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
Step 4: Review Aadhaar DetailsOnce OTP verification is done, the system will show your Aadhaar-linked details on the screen.
Step 5: Select Face e-KYCChoose the Face e-KYC option to proceed.
Step 6: Scan Your FaceYour camera will open automatically. Position your face properly and allow the camera to scan.
Step 7: Submit and CompleteAfter scanning, submit the details. Your e-KYC will be processed and typically gets completed within seconds.
How to Check Whether Your e-KYC Was SuccessfulIf you want to confirm your e-KYC status, follow these steps:
Open the Mera Ration app again and log in.
Enter your location and Aadhaar number.
Complete the OTP verification.
The app will display your current e-KYC status.
Status: Y – Your e-KYC is successfully completed.
Status: N – Your verification is still pending or incomplete.
