Jeep has officially pulled the wraps off its highly anticipated 2026 Recon, the brand’s first all-electric SUV engineered for serious off-road adventure. Inspired by the iconic Wrangler, the Recon blends legendary 4×4 capability with a powerful electric powertrain, offering a fresh alternative for adventure seekers.

The Recon is built on the STLA Large platform and is a “Trail Rated” EV, a badge earned by passing grueling tests for off-road capability. At its heart is a dual-motor powertrain that delivers an astounding 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of instant torque to all four wheels, enabling a rapid 0-60 mph acceleration in just 3.6 seconds.

Powering the SUV is a 100 kWh battery pack, which Jeep estimates will provide a driving range of up to 250 miles, depending on the trim. The initial ‘Moab’ edition is expected to offer a range of around 230 miles (approximately 370 km). Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 5% to 80% in about 28 minutes.

True to its off-road heritage, the Recon is equipped with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system, featuring distinct modes for conditions like rock, sand, and snow. It also comes with electronic locking differentials, robust underbody skid plates for protection, and beefy 33-inch off-road tires on select trims. In a nod to the Wrangler, the Recon is the only fully electric SUV designed with removable doors, rear quarter glass, and a rear swing gate that can be taken off without tools, allowing for an authentic open-air experience.
