They said Bosch gave the weakest answer in the top five and lacked the stage presence of the runners-up. Some felt Miss Côte d’Ivoire should have won instead, with one viewer even wishing the host would “come back out and announce the results were read in the wrong order.”

Bosch was crowned Miss Universe during the Friday morning finale in Thailand, with Thailand, Venezuela, the Philippines, and Ivory Coast finishing as the first through fourth runners-up, according to the BBC.

Accusations also resurfaced that her relationship with Rocha, a fellow Mexican, played a role in the outcome, with one commenter saying: “What ‘Raul’ has destined for you.” Others suggested her confrontation with Itsaragrisil, who has had ongoing disputes with Rocha, ultimately benefited her.

The conflict between Bosch and Itsaragrisil re-emerged after the finale. During the sash ceremony on Nov. 4, he scolded Bosch for allegedly refusing to cooperate with organizers, skipping sponsor activities, and not promoting the pageant online. When she tried to explain, he ordered her to sit down and called her rude.

Their exchange escalated when Itsaragrisil called security and caused chaos in the event hall. Several contestants cried, shouted, and left the ceremony. Bosch told reporters waiting outside that she had been yelled at and insulted in front of the other contestants.

Itsaragrisil livestreamed an apology after the incident. The next day, Rocha posted a video to criticize Itsaragrisil’s actions, limited his authority, and threatened legal action for abuse of power.

Before the semifinals, Itsaragrisil and Rocha met in Bangkok to reconcile. Photos of their meeting were circulated on social media and prompted speculation that the Miss Universe results may have been influenced.
