He added, "So many messages saying the film hasn’t aged. That means everything. If you haven’t seen it yet, Lamhe is currently available on Netflix #34YearsOfLamhe (sic)."
Lamhe, released in 1991, was both directed and produced by Yash Chopra. The film starred the late Sridevi in a dual role as mother and daughter, alongside Anil Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Anupam Kher, Deepak Malhotra, and Dippy Sagoo. This film marked the second and final collaboration between Sridevi and Chopra, following their earlier work in Chandni in 1989.
Yash Chopra regarded Lamhe as his personal favorite among his films. The narrative follows Viren, who falls in love with Pallavi, only for her to marry Siddharth. After their tragic deaths, their daughter, who resembles her mother, grows up and falls for Viren.
In related news, Anil's film 1942: A Love Story will be featured at a special screening during the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 21.
This film, which includes performances by Anil, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, and Anupam Kher, has been restored in 8K for the screening. The soundtrack has been remastered in 5.1 surround sound, with part of the restoration completed at L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, Italy, a renowned lab for preserving cinematic heritage.
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film is celebrated for its impactful storytelling, remarkable performances, and memorable music.
Set against the backdrop of India's freedom struggle, it resonates with a strong sense of patriotism and features melodies by the legendary R.D. Burman, which have become ingrained in the nation's collective memory.
