Travis Head stunned England on Saturday afternoon in the first Ashes Test in Perth after being promoted to open the innings for Australia helping make the run chase easier. With Usman Khawaja unavailable Head came out as an opener and attacked from the start guiding Australia in their chase of 205. He smashed 123 off just 83 balls hitting 16 fours and four sixes and finished with an impressive strike rate of 148.19. Australia wrapped up the chase in only 28.2 overs to take a crucial lead in the five-match series. After his explosive innings his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening partner Abhishek Sharma shared his reaction to Head’s destructive batting. On Day 2 Travis Head scored a blistering 69-ball century marking the second-fastest hundred in Ashes history and the joint-third fastest by an Australian in Test cricket. He also achieved the milestone of 4000 Test runs with 10 centuries and 20 fifties and became the first opener in Ashes history to hit four or more sixes in a single innings. Australia dominated England securing an eight-wicket victory in just two days. Mitchell Starc took a ten-wicket haul while Scott Boland and Brendan Doggett contributed key breakthroughs. Marnus Labuschagne played a supporting role with 51 runs off 49 balls in the successful run chase.
