New Delhi: India had a disappointing second day in the second Test match against South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. With little assistance for the bowlers the visitors capitalized on the conditions and posted a massive total of 489 in their first innings. India struggled to pick wickets as the ball softened and conditions eased. Kuldeep Yadav claimed 4 for 115 but bowled faster than usual losing some of the drift and deception that had been effective on the opening day.
Speaking to the media after the first days play. Kuldeep described the 22-yard pitch at Barsapara Stadium as a road because of its unusual nature
Kuldeep Yadav labelled the Barsapara pitch a road
Kolkata ka wicket toh alag thaa. Yeh to pura road tha (Kolkatas wicket was different and this was a whole road). So its challenging and that’s why it’s called a Test wicket said Kuldeep.
However Kuldeep highlighted that the players must display resilience and determination to overcome challenging conditions.
It is not always about domination but it is also very important how you come back on a good batting surface. It was a difficult wicket for the bowlers because I didn’t feel that there was a lot of help in this wicket.
Kuldeep believes that one should not overthink about the pitch
Kuldeep believes that one should move on quickly and not overthink about the pitch condition Even for fast bowlers it didnt seem like a lot of help but yeah this is Test cricket and you should enjoy it. You should enjoy learn more and the more you mature you shouldn’t think too much about the wicket. You should go there and play. Next Test there could be a better wicket so no complaints he added.
Kuldeep also pointed out that opening session on the first day offered some assistance
Kuldeep further said that the opening session on the first day offered some assistance due to residual moisture the slow bowlers received no help in the final five sessions.
Personally I felt yesterdays first session there was a bit of moisture in the wicket so I got a little bit of turn there in the first session. After that it was very good to bat on he said.
There wasnt any turn yesterday as well as today. Today was much better to bat on because I hardly got any turn. Even me and Jadeja we have been talking about that he concluded
