A new information has emerged for Gmail users. It is being claimed on social media that Google is using your Gmail to train its AI model. Additionally, Google can also access your emails, attachments, bills and personal communications. However, Gmail has clarified through a post that it is not using Gmail content for its Gemini model. Still, if you want to keep your Gmail account completely secure, you can turn off some options in Settings.
Many are claiming that Google is using users’ data to train its AI models through features like Gmail’s Smart Compose and automated suggestions. But Gmail has stated in a post that these smart features have been present for many years and no new changes have been made in their settings.
You can stop Google from using your information by making some simple changes to Gmail. These settings are available on both the Gmail app and the web. First of all, open Gmail in your device. Then the Settings option will appear on the top right. If you are using the desktop version, click on ‘See all settings’. For mobile apps, go to ‘Settings’.
– On scrolling, ‘Smart features and personalization’ section will appear.
– Go to ‘Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat and Meet’ and uncheck the option.
– Then click on ‘Saves Changes’.
– This will turn off features like Smart Compose and automated suggestions, and Google won’t be able to use the content of your emails for model training.
– Google also uses Gmail data to improve AI features in other products like Calendar, Drive, and Assistant. This can also be closed.
– For this go to Gmail’s settings.
– Click on ‘See all settings’ and then scroll down to ‘Manage Workspace smart feature settings’.
– Finally, turn off both ‘Smart features in Google Workspace’ and ‘Smart features in other Google products’.
