Tragic Bus Accident in Uttarakhand Claims Five Lives

On Monday, a bus carrying approximately 28 passengers fell into a gorge about 70 meters deep near Kunjapuri-Hindolakhal in the Narendra Nagar area of Tehri district, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and leaving several others injured. Rescue operations are currently underway, as reported by local authorities.


According to officials from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the district control room alerted the SDRF unit about the accident in the afternoon, indicating that the vehicle had skidded off the road in the Narendra Nagar police jurisdiction. Initially, it was estimated that between 30 to 35 people were on board the bus.


In response to the alert, the SDRF deployed five teams from the Dhalwala post, Koti Colony post, and the SDRF core headquarters to the site of the incident.


SDRF officials have confirmed the fatalities of five individuals at the scene. All other injured passengers are being rescued from the gorge and transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.


Authorities mentioned that the passengers on the bus were reportedly from outside the state. Further information is awaited, and updates will be provided as they become available.
