New Delhi: The Indian Test cricket team is facing serious struggles in domestic conditions. The second Test match being played in Guwahati, in which South Africa has made a strong hold on India, is increasing the challenges for Team India. Meanwhile, a speculation created a stir on social media, which said that the team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has resigned from his post. But this claim was later proved to be false and it was revealed that it was made by a parody account.
In the Guwahati Test, the South African team, playing under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, has surrounded India from all sides. In the first Test, South Africa gave India a target of 124 runs, to save which India was all out for only 93 runs, which was a big blow.
In the second Test, the visiting team has taken a lead of 314 runs and they still have 10 wickets left. There is a possibility that South Africa can give a huge target of 500+ runs to India. The Indian team’s batting, especially in the Test format, has been extremely volatile under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir.
After India’s poor performance on the third day of the match, a post went viral on social media, stating that Gautam Gambhir has resigned from the post of coach. It was mentioned in that post that ‘I am tired of constant trolling, I am moving away from every role to cricket, best wishes to Indian cricket.
Thousands of users accepted this as true and discussions intensified. But later it became clear that it was a parody account of Gautam Gambhir, and he did not make any such statement.
Under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir, India has given mixed performance in Test cricket. India has defeated only Bangladesh and West Indies. New Zealand gave a big shock to India by defeating them 3-0 in the home series in 2024, which was India’s first home series defeat since 2012.
Even on the Australia tour, India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. Against England, India made a spectacular comeback and drew the series 2-2. Currently, India has lost the first Test against South Africa and is in a difficult situation in the second one.
Although challenges remain in Tests, India are performing well in limited overs cricket under Gambhir’s coaching. India has won the 2025 Champions Trophy and the team is also considered a strong contender for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
