Electric Heater Safety Tips: Many people resort to electric heaters to create a completely comfortable environment in the cold season. However, it is necessary to be cautious while using them. If these are not used properly, they can become a danger to you. Therefore, keep the following things in mind while using the heater.

create safe zone

Ensure at least three feet of free space around your heater. Do not place any flammable items near it, such as clothes, blankets or furniture. Never place the heater in an area with hanging clothes or dirt, as this may cause fire.

use stable surface

Always place the heater on the floor and try to have it on a stable and flat surface. Do not place it on a bed, sofa or carpet, as this increases the risk of falling or overheating. The heater remains stable due to its strong surface.

Do not use in wet locations

Never use the heater in the kitchen or any humid place. Moisture can damage the heater’s wiring, causing a short-circuit or risk of electric shock. Apart from this, gas and heat also get trapped in such places.

turn off the heater when you sleep

It may be tempting to leave the heater on while you sleep, but this increases both health and safety risks. The air may become very dry and electrical equipment may become hot. Before sleeping, always turn off the heater and unplug it.

use the correct plug

The heater should be plugged directly into the wall socket. Do not use extension cords or multi-plugs, as these are not made for high power and may overheat and melt. Check the cord from time to time to make sure it is secure.
