In the ever-evolving world of showbiz where the success of a film is defined by its box office collection sometimes even the film with the most impactful stories and powerful performances struggles to convert emotion into numbers. One such similar tale is of Farhan Akhtar’s much-awaited comeback film 120 Bahadur. Despite its compelling retelling of the Battle of Rezang La and a performance-driven narrative the movie’s Monday trend is now raising concerns. After a reasonably steady opening weekend 120 Bahadur saw a significant drop on Day 4 (Monday) showing a challenging road ahead.
A Promising Start But Limited Growth
Directed by Razneesh Ghai 120 Bahadur opened with Rs 2.25 crore on Friday. The numbers saw a healthy jump of over 70% on Saturday with the film collecting Rs 3.85 crore. The upward trend continued on Sunday as well as the film earned Rs 4 crore indicating positive word of mouth during the weekend.
By the end of Day 3 120 Bahadur had collected Rs 10 crore in total setting expectations for a steady weekday performance.
Day 4 Box Office: Major Monday Drop Hits Momentum
However Mondays tides turned completely. According to early estimates 120 Bahadur collected only Rs 1.40 crore on Day 4. This marks a sharp fall from its Sunday earnings. With this the total box office collection of 120 Bahadur now stands at Rs 11.50 crore.
Another reason for this steep decline could also be facing competition from Mastii 4. While initially the war drama ran ahead of its competition as updated numbers indicate 120 Bahadur is now trailing the competitor by a narrow margin.
About 120 Bahadur
Set during the 1962 Indo-China War 120 Bahadur is a well-crafted film but falls short of leveraging some key strengths. Its historical backdrop doesn’t resonate with audiences as strongly as Indo-Pak conflict-based stories usually do. And while the film sincerely showcases bravery and sacrifice its limited contemporary relevance and mass appeal seem to have weighed down its box office performance.
