India's New Ambassador to Vietnam Engages in Key Meetings

On November 25, India's Ambassador-designate, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa, met with Nguyen Xuan Thang, a member of Vietnam's Politburo and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMNAP), along with other senior officials from HCMNAP in Hanoi.


Sherpa, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2002, was appointed as the next Ambassador to Vietnam in September. Prior to this role, he held the position of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.


The Indian Embassy in Hanoi shared on social media that Ambassador-designate Sherpa emphasized the importance of fostering ideas between India and Vietnam. Both parties reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in emerging technologies.


The Indian community in Hanoi recently participated in the International Culinary Cultural Festival, showcasing India's rich cuisine, traditional handicrafts, and henna art. Classical Indian dance performances were also part of the festival, highlighting the cultural ties between the two nations.


Earlier, on November 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg, reaffirming their dedication to a robust and forward-looking partnership.


Additionally, Ambassador Sherpa visited Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, at the Quan Su Pagoda in Hanoi, reinforcing India's commitment to strengthening the spiritual and cultural connections rooted in Buddhism.
