SP MLA Zahid Baig gets relief from High Court: stay in human trafficking and bonded labor case till January 9

Bhadohi. Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Zahid Beg got a big relief from the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday. The High Court has put on hold till further orders the proceedings in the case of human trafficking and bonded labor registered against the MLA. The next hearing in this case has been scheduled for January 9.

A single bench of Justice Samir Jain passed this order after the debate on Wednesday. This case was registered against MLA Zahid Beg and his wife Seema Baig. Gyanpur Labor Enforcement Officer Jaiprakash Singh had lodged an FIR against MLA Zahid Baig and his wife Seema Baig on September 13, 2024, under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), accusing them of child labour, human trafficking and bonded labour.

Girl’s body was found at Zahid Baig’s residence

It was alleged that on September 9, 2024, the body of a minor girl was found under suspicious circumstances in a closed room at the residence of MLA Zahid Baig. During the investigation, the officials also found out that another minor girl was working at his residence, who was rescued by the administration.

On the basis of these facts, a case was registered against MLA Zahid Baig and his wife Seema Baig in AHT Bhadohi on charges of bonded labor and human trafficking. Advocates GS Chaturvedi and Zeeshan Mazhar presented the case on behalf of the MLA.

Some time ago, the entire proceedings of the case registered against MLA’s wife Seema Baig on charges of human trafficking and bonded labor were quashed by the High Court. A case has also been registered against MLA Zahid Baig, his wife Seema Baig and son Zaim Baig for inciting a minor maid to commit suicide. Even in this case of abetment to suicide, the High Court has already ordered a stay on the action. At present, the MLA, his wife and son are out on bail in all cases.
