“I spent the day watching my grandmother’s home burning right in front of my eyes. Such a devastating day,” the beauty queen wrote on Instagram, as reported by 8days. “My heart and prayers go out to those who lost their lives, those who have been injured, and everyone who lost their home today.”

According to the Associated Pressthe fire started Wednesday afternoon in the Tai Po housing complex, located in the New Territories. By Thursday morning, local authorities were still battling the blaze and continuing rescue operations.

As of Thursday afternoon, at least 55 people had been confirmed dead, with nearly 300 others reported missing, marking one of Hong Kong’s deadliest fires in decades, Reuters reported. Firefighters remained on the scene, working to control the fire.

Tse, 30, studied nursing at Edinburgh Napier University, graduating in 2019, before returning to Hong Kong to compete in the Miss Hong Kong 2020 pageant, per the South China Morning Post.

Following her win, she joined TVB, a path many former Miss Hong Kong winners take. However, she later revealed she received low pay at the broadcaster and announced her departure from the company earlier this year.
