Manipur: According to government sources, suspected terrorists opened fire on a patrolling team of the Assam Rifles on Friday in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur, which is close to the India-Myanmar border. The number of fatalities or injuries has not yet been established.
On November 28, 2025, early in the morning, militants opened fire on an Assam Rifles patrolling team in the Tengnoupal area of Manipur, near the India-Myanmar border. According to a statement from the defense ministry, “the fire was immediately retaliated with control and caution, keeping in mind the civilian safety.”
The statement went on to say, “The operations are underway, with additional troops being deployed into the area.”
The incident has not been attributed to any violent organization.
Similar to this, in September, unidentified gunmen assaulted a small vehicle transporting Assam Rifles soldiers in the state’s Bishnupur area, killing two and wounding four.
At the time of the incident, the men were traveling from Imphal, the state capital, to the Bishnupur area.
