New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today participated in the ‘Sardh Panchshatamanotsav’ celebrations organized on the 550th year of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math in Goa. During this, PM Modi unveiled the 77 feet high statue of Lord Shri Ram in the monastery. This is said to be the world’s tallest statue of Lord Shri Ram. This bronze statue has been created by famous sculptor Ram Sutar. It was Ram Sutar who built the Statue of Unity, the statue of Sardar Patel in Gujarat. This statue of Lord Rama is a symbol of the 550 year old tradition of Gokarna Jeevottam Math. Sri Sansthan Gokarna Jeevotham Math is one of the oldest monastic institutions in India.
After unveiling the statue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, today’s auspicious occasion has filled the mind with deep peace. Sitting in the company of sages and saints is a spiritual experience in itself. He said, India is passing through a decisive phase today. The youth power of the country, our growing self-confidence and our inclination towards our cultural roots, all these together are creating a new India. Our resolve of a developed India will be fulfilled only when all three streams of spirituality, national service and development move together.
Modi said, today when this holy Shri Sansthan Gokarna Jeevottam Math is completing 550 years, we are not only celebrating history but also deciding the direction of the future. The path to developed India lies through unity. When the society comes together, when every class, every region stands together, only then the nation takes a big leap. The main objective of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevotham Math is to connect people, connect minds, to become a bridge between tradition and modernity, hence this Math also plays the role of a major inspiration center in the journey of developed India.
PM said, the spiritual pride of this land of Goa is as special as its modern development is also effective. Goa is one of those states in the country where per capita income is highest. Goa has an important contribution in the tourism, pharma and service sectors of the country. In recent years, Goa has made new achievements in the fields of education and healthcare. The central and state governments are together modernizing the infrastructure here.
