Uzma Gillani hopes to return to Pakistani dramas

Uzma has been living in Australia for many years. Currently, she is visiting Pakistan. During her visit, she has been appearing on radio and television programs. She recently gave an interview on PTV Home as part of the channel’s anniversary special show. Jamal Shah was also a guest on the show.

Uzma told the show that she is willing to work in dramas again. She said she asked Jamal Shah to help her get something written that would suit her. She added that it might be her last play.

However, she expressed concern about the types of roles offered to older women in Pakistani dramas. She said,

“Unfortunately, elderly women are mostly portrayed as cruel mothers-in-law or rude older relatives. I don’t want to play such roles.”

She wants roles that reflect wisdom, intellect, and dignity, rather than negative stereotypes.

Jamal Shah praised Uzma for her personality, wisdom, and experience. He said these qualities are rarely shown in Pakistani dramas. He added that her presence brings depth and elegance to any role.

Uzma Gillani’s remarks highlight her love for acting and her desire to contribute meaningfully to the TV industry. Fans are eager to see her return to dramas. They hope she will be offered roles that match her talent and persona, instead of typical stereotypical parts for elderly women.
