Clean the nose frequently-
If you have a cold, it is important that you clean your nose frequently and properly. The best way to clear the nose is to press the nostril with a finger on one side and gently clear it with the other side.

Salt water is effective on runny nose-
Running or blocked nose is a common problem in winter. Salt water proves to be very effective in this. It works to remove viruses and bacteria from the nose. For this, mix 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in some lukewarm water. Put it in the nose using a bulb syringe or nasal irrigation kit. Keep yourself warm and rest-

Take bath with hot water-

If you are unable to muster the courage to take a bath, then wipe your entire body with a cloth filled with warm water and change your clothes. Apart from this, make a bundle of menthol, eucalyptus, and camphor and keep it under the pillow and smell it from time to time, it will provide relief.

Sleep with a high pillow-
Sleep with your head elevated, this will make it easier to breathe through a blocked nose. Sleeping with a high pillow also provides relief from sinus. Try to sleep on your side instead of your back.

Foods that fight infection-
Certain foods help fight cold and flu. Things like Vitamin C, carrots, black pepper, mustard oil, onion, black or green tea and hot soups all help in fighting infection.
