TV series Manifest was released in 2018 and followed passengers of a plane who suddenly reappeared after the aircraft went missing; they had been presumed dead for five and a half years. Their lives had continued without them, and they had to find their way to move forward while desperately seeking answers, considering no time had passed for all of the passengers. Michaela and Ben Stone, siblings, were the centre of the series, along with Ben's son Cal Stone. The passengers develop "gifts" in which they can see and hear things happening before they actually occur.

The series became incredibly popular during its time on NBC, but it was cancelled after three seasons on a huge cliffhanger, but after the series was being successfully streamed on Netflix, the streaming giant took over production to give it the send-off fans were desperate for in the form of a fourth and final season.

Creator Jeff Rake said at the time: "We're trying to find a way to conclude the series. It could take a week, a month, or a year. But we're not giving up. You deserve an end to the story."

Fans were thrilled when it was confirmed that the fourth and final season would be hitting the platform, and the entire series came to a close in 2023, but it still remains a highly streamed series to this day. In fact, it's been called one of the best series on Netflix by fans who have praised the show endlessly.

One user wrote on Facebook: "This is one of the best shows on Netflix!", while another said: "I binged it day and night, I couldn't stop, it's at the top of my list, it's so well done."

A third wrote: "I was devastated when it got cancelled, but Netflix made it what it needed to be! One of the best shows!" While a fourth said: "That ending! Great show."

It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 72%, but that shot up to 88% for the final series as plot holes were filled and the audience finally got answers to questions they'd been asking for years.

When Netflix released the final series of Manifest, it quickly landed in the number one spot, making it one of the most-watched series globally, despite being cancelled the season prior. It was previously revealed that the series had 57 million hours streamed on Netflix worldwide.

Actress Melissa Roxburgh, who played Michaela Stone, told The Hollywood Reporter that she was blown away to see it streaming number one among other Netflix hits such as Ozark and The OA. She reflected on Netflix's decision to save the show and explained that when they ended for season three, it had been during Covid, so there was no goodbye.

She said: "So we just sort of wrapped the season, and that was it. If we had ended the show there, we all would have been a little bit depressed - I'm happy that Netflix brought us back, not only to finish the story but to give everyone a proper goodbye."
