Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFolda groundbreaking smartphone that unfolds not once but twice, marking a significant advancement in foldable device design and reinforcing the company’s long-standing goal to redefine mobile form factors. Built on years of innovation in the foldable category, the Galaxy Z TriFold aims to deliver a combination of portability, performance, and productivity unlike anything seen before in smartphones.
With the TriFold, Samsung offers what it calls the “most immersive screen on a phone.” It combines a slim design with an expansive display in one device.
At the core of the Galaxy Z TriFold’s innovation is a carefully redesigned folding mechanism. The phone uses an improved version of Samsung’s “Armor FlexHinge.” This new dual-hinge, dual-rail structure allows for two folds while maintaining stability and smooth operation.
To ensure the device is both sleek and durable, Samsung has used strong materials. A titanium hinge housing protects the folding system from wear, while an “Advanced Armor Aluminum” frame adds strength without adding bulk. A ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer back panel enhances resistance to cracks while keeping the device thin.
To prevent repeated folding, the display has been redesigned. A reinforced coating over a shock-absorbing layer improves resilience, which is essential for a device that bends twice with each opening and closing.
Each Galaxy Z TriFold unit goes through strict quality checks. These include CT-scanning flexible circuit boards to confirm proper internal assembly and laser scanning to ensure every component is at the correct height. This manufacturing discipline highlights Samsung’s focus on reliability while pushing the limits of foldable design.
When fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold reveals a large 10.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen — the biggest ever on a Galaxy smartphone. The cover screen, used when the phone is folded shut, features a 6.5-inch display.
Despite its generous screen size, the TriFold stays relatively slim, measuring just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point. The phone weighs about 309 grams.
Inside, the device runs a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage, depending on the variant.
For long-lasting use, it has a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery — the largest Samsung has put in a foldable phone so far — along with 45 W super-fast wired charging, wireless charging, and PowerShare.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is designed not just for consumption but also for creation and productivity. The 10-inch screen effectively acts like three 6.5-inch smartphones laid out side by side, allowing users to run up to three portrait-oriented apps at once. This setup is perfect for multitasking tasks such as reviewing documents, designing, writing, and referencing data simultaneously.
For deeper functionality, the TriFold supports a standalone desktop-like experience via Samsung DeX. In DeX mode, users can have up to four workspaces, each with multiple windows, effectively turning the phone into a portable workstation. With an external monitor, Bluetooth keyboard, and mouse, the TriFold can serve as a near-laptop substitute.
What sets the TriFold apart is its integration with AI features via Galaxy AI and Gemini Live. Functions like Photo Assist (including Generative Edit and Sketch-to-Image), Browsing Assist (for instant translation or summarization), and real-time multimodal assistance (understanding what the user sees, says, or does) are designed to make the most of the large screen, whether for creative work, content editing, or research.

Beyond productivity, the Galaxy Z TriFold offers a “cinematic viewing experience.” The 10-inch main display, featuring vibrant Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and peak brightness of up to 1600 nits (2600 nits on the cover screen), delivers rich visuals. This makes it ideal for movies, videos, gaming, and photo editing.
The design reduces creasing and ensures smooth folding, keeping content seamless and engaging. When folded back, the slim profile allows the phone to fit comfortably in a pocket. This gives users the flexibility of a smartphone combined with the screen size of a small tablet.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is set to launch first in South Korea on December 12, 2025. Other markets, including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and eventually the United States, will follow.
With its mix of premium materials, innovative hinge design, large display, robust battery, and AI-powered productivity tools, the TriFold represents a bold move from Samsung. It showcases where the next wave of smartphones might go. While it may appeal mainly to “power users,” content creators, professionals, and early adopters, its versatility suggests it could attract anyone looking to replace multiple devices — a phone, a tablet, and a light laptop — with one.

Samsung has described the TriFold as shaping the future of mobile experiences. In doing this, it has expanded the boundaries of what a smartphone can be, transforming it from a simple device for calls and messaging to a complete workstation, entertainment hub, and creative canvas.
