Every year, thousands of students face significant difficulties due to name errors in their 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets. Students passing the 10th and 12th grades from the Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani, will now be able to have their name errors corrected directly at the board level. The board has introduced this facility to address the difficulties faced by students, eliminating the need for them to run around. Previously, name corrections required obtaining an affidavit from a notary, publishing advertisements in newspapers, and sometimes even making numerous court visits. Now, this hassle has been eliminated.
Now, the Board Chairman will handle name corrections.
Under the new system, students can directly contact the board chairman to have their name errors corrected. They will need to submit a simple handwritten affidavit and a photocopy of an ID, such as an Aadhaar card or family card, for identification. Based on these documents, the name error will be verified and corrected. This will save students both time and money.
Name errors used to cause problems with many documents.
Even a small name error on a marksheet can lead to significant problems later on. Students face repeated difficulties due to mismatches in school records, Aadhaar cards, passports, bank accounts, and employment documents. In many cases, academic or employment-related work is disrupted. Addressing this problem, the Board has decided to simplify the name correction process.
This initiative began with a student's problem.
Board Chairman Prof. Pawan Kumar recalled that a student named Jaibir, whose real name was Jaiveer, but was mistakenly listed as Jaibir on the Aadhaar card, approached him. The student explained how complex and frustrating the name change process can be. Following this, the Chairman proposed this in the Board of Directors meeting. The meeting unanimously granted the Board Chairman this authority, ensuring direct relief for students.
Relief for Students
This decision will provide significant relief to thousands of Haryana Board students. They will no longer have to go through the lengthy legal process to correct their names. By applying directly to the board office, their work will be made easier. This step is considered an important and commendable initiative in the interest of students.
