The Vietnamese government has added 41 more international border gates where foreigners can use e-visas for entry and exit, bringing the total number of e-visa-eligible gates to 83.
The newly added list includes four airports, 11 land border gates and 26 seaports, according to a resolution issued on Dec. 2.
These airports are Long Thanh in Dong Nai Province, Gia Binh in Bac Ninh, Vinh in Nghe An and Chu Lai in Da Nang.
The Long Thanh International Airport, around 40 km from Ho Chi Minh City, is set to welcome its first technical flight on Dec. 19 and begin commercial operations in 2026.
Eleven new land border checkpoints include Dong Dang in Lang Son Province, Lao Cai in Lao Cai Province, Tra Linh in Cao Bang Province, Long Sap in Son La Province, Nam Giang in Da Nang City, Le Thanh in Gia Lai Province, Binh Hiep and Tan Nam in Tay Ninh Province, Thuong Phuoc and Dinh Ba in Dong Thap Province and Thanh Thuy in Tuyen Quang Province.
In 2023, Vietnam approved 42 international border gates eligible for e-visa use.
From mid-August 2023, Vietnam has granted e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories entering Vietnam.
Foreign nationals submit applications and receive results online without having to visit diplomatic missions or obtain an entry approval letter as previously required.
