One of India’s bestselling SUVs - the Mahindra Scorpio N - is finally set to get its long-awaited mid-cycle update in the second half of 2026 months after its sibling - the Mahindra XUV700 - receives its own facelift.
Spy shots of the new Scorpio N’s camouflaged test mule have surfaced online giving some early hints as to what the refreshed SUV will have in store.
Check out the most important updates here.
The 3 Most Exciting Updates For The Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift
1. New Look and Carryover Aggressive Posture
While the general body shape and the body-on-frame ladder chassis - key elements that give Scorpio N its robust character - will stay the same the facelifted model is expected to feature some styling changes.
The SUV’s front grille LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and the front and rear bumpers will all get a new look helping the SUV to look more aggressive.
The new styling cues are expected to be carried over to the new alloy wheels which may also get larger to match. 19-inch wheels are the most likely option according to the latest reports. If that happens the larger wheels should help the SUV’s on-road presence to look even more imposing.
2. Cabin Changes: Comfort Connectivity And More
The updated Scorpio N’s cabin is likely to look more premium and user-friendly compared to the current one. Buyers can expect ventilated front seats and possibly ventilated rear seats as well as a panoramic sunroof - both of which are not offered in the standard variant of the current model.
Tech-wise the current Scorpio N’s combination of analog and digital displays is likely to make way for a fully digital TFT driver’s display. The new Scorpio N will also have a bigger touchscreen infotainment system (sources differ but ~10.25-inch to 12.3-inch units are expected) with an improved user interface.
The top-spec variants are also likely to get powered front seats with memory function and a more premium audio system (possibly with Dolby support). The auto-park feature is another expected addition.
Taken together these changes are expected to help make the Scorpio N more appealing to customers looking for a package of both comfort and connectivity along with its trademark toughness.
3. Transmission and Mechanicals: Same but better
On the mechanical front the new Scorpio N is expected to retain the same powertrain and gearbox options as before. The turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine and the 2.2-litre diesel mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox will all carry over to the new model.
However the powertrains will likely receive subtle refinements to improve drivability. The engine and gearbox could offer smoother gear shifts and better throttle response than before for example.
Customers who value the SUV’s off-road and 4×4 credentials will also not have to worry about that. The robust character of the current Scorpio N and the SUV-like body-on-frame ladder chassis that enables it will both be carried over.
Timeline and why it’s important
Industry sources suggest that the facelifted Scorpio N will launch in the second half of 2026 some months after the facelifted XUV 700 gets launched.
Mahindra’s updated Scorpio N is targeting a SUV-buying segment that places a high value on a rugged SUV with the on-road presence and character that only a full-size SUV with a body-on-frame ladder chassis can provide while also expecting a good level of comfort and a host of modern features in the cabin.
The Scorpio N facelift could be a smart choice for customers who are in the market for a mid-size SUV with a bit of old-school Scorpio toughness but want to step up to an upgraded and feature-rich cabin as well.
