Sugar is not only sweet, but it is also a serious challenge to health. When we consume excess sugar, insulin levels increase, and the body immediately converts it into fat.
According to Dr. Anshuman Kaushal, whether it is Gulab Jamun or cold coffee, excess sugar gets stored in the body as fat. This is why people find it difficult to lose weight despite going to the gym. Adequate sugar intake and insulin control are essential for burning fat.
Dr. Kaushal has compared the body to a bank account. The first account is the ‘Current Account’, which shows the blood glucose level which is only 70-100 mg per cent. When sugar levels rise, insulin sends it to a ‘savings account’, which is deposited in the liver and muscles. When this limit is reached, the excess sugar is converted directly into fat.
Excessive sugar intake affects the HbA1c report, which reflects the average blood sugar over the past 2-3 months. When insulin levels are high, the body does not go into the fat burning process. Every time sugar is consumed, fat stores increase, hindering weight loss efforts.
Dr. Kaushal says that sugar is not just a calorie, but it also acts as a ‘deposit slip’ for fat stores. Gulab jamun, cold coffee and sweets are all sources of sugar. Low sugar and controlled insulin help get the body into the fat burning process.
If insulin levels are high, the body does not burn fat despite going to the gym and exercising. The higher the insulin, the slower the fat burning process. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce sugar intake and control insulin.
Dr. Kaushal suggests that controlling sugar is the key to getting the body into the fat burning process. Maintain healthy current and savings accounts, and prevent fat stores from filling up. This is a simple, scientific and effective method.
